STAYING ACTIVE
Dear Dr.Bear,
I have a five week old and toddler, I am anxious to start running again. The double jogger that I have has individually reclining seats. My question is, if I recline the infants seat and secure her head appropriately, at what age can she be in the jogger.
Sincerely,
Active Mom
Dear Active Mom,
Most of what happens to the baby in the jogger may depend on the terrain and weather conditions - I am sure you will be careful - BUT THAT BEING SAID - in general we feel very conservative about new babies. Best to get someone watch the baby for the first 2-3 months, you and your toddler go out and have a great time. A baby can be very sensitive to heat, sun, chilling, wind, vibrations etc., and after you have the baby road tested in your nurturing environment for a few onths, things such as no feeding or spitting problems, no crying issues, good growth and development, then if you introduce something new and something happens you will be able to readily recognize it. Hope this advice does not sound too conservative -- but you should never think you are being too safe with your new baby.
Sincerely,
Dr. Bear
