EAR PIERCING

Dear Dr.Bear,

What is the appropriate age at which an infant's ears should be pierced? Does your office offer the service and if so what is the price?

Sincerely,
Fashionably Concerned

Dear Fashionably Concerned,

Ear piercing should not be done until an infant can lift her head and turn from side to side, so the posts do not penetrate the skin behind the ear lobe. It can be done in our Davidsonville and Crofton offices if you are a patient of our practice. You will need to call to check on the cost, which includes earrings.

Sincerely,
Dr. Bear
