ALLERGIC RASH

Dear Dr.Bear,

My son is 8 months old and has developed a rash on his face of red bumps. It appeared yesterday and today has gotten worse. The only thing my son ate yesterday that was new was a tiny piece of chocolate chip. Two days ago he had fresh pineapple for the first time. Could this be an allergic reaction? My pediatrician suggested I give him some Benadryl and it would go away in a few days? Do you have any more suggestions on how to clear this up?

Sincerely,
Allergic Rash

Dear Allergic Rash,

The recommendations for flu shots are changing to include more and younger children. Doses and the vaccine schedule differ from children of differentages. For more information, talk to your pediatrician, or check out the Centers for Disease Control website for details about Influenza and the available flu vaccine.

Sincerely,
Dr. Bear
