We know how important it is to have fast, convenient access to your child’s health care provider, so we have chosen to greet our patients with an automated telephone system 24-hours a day. With our system you can control how your call is transferred, and best of all you can leave a message anytime during the day or night. During office hours and if appropriate, the Pediatric Group has an emrgency line available for non-life threatening emergencies. To access the emergency line, call (410) 721-2273 and press “0”.

MESSAGES TO YOUR PHYSICIAN
When leaving a voicemail message for your physician make sure you give your telephone number, name, your child’s name and age at the beginning of a brief message. When describing your child’s symptoms, give the most important ones first. If you think your child has a fever, take his temperature before calling the office so that you can give us that information accurately. If your child’s condition has gotten worse or if your are frightened by your child’s appearance and worried about his problem, tell the doctor. Your intuition is very important when the doctor is trying to assess your child’s condition.
We do not have a specified hour during which calls are returned. We return calls throughout the day. If your phone call is not returned after a reasonable period of time, call your physician again or call the CARELine at (410) 451-0070. Inform the CARELine representative of who you are trying to contact, when you left messages and a phone number where you can be reached. The CARELine will try to contact the physician directly and call you back with further information.
When talking to your physician, if you do not understand the instructions, do not be timid. Keep asking questions until you know what to do. Have a pen handy to write down important instructions, expecially medication and dosages. Have your pharmacy’s telephone number handy in case we need to call in a prescription. Refill requests should be made with our Prescription Refill Line during normal office hours since many pharmacies close early in the evening. You can access the Prescription Refill Line by calling (410) 721-2273 and choosing option 4.
Next time you are in the office ask the Front Desk Representative for your physician’s voicemail card.
